I can’t believe this is what my life has come to — delivering groceries 🛒🏃🏻‍♀️.

HOW? How did I go from having these grand soulful business plans to running around Costco trying to beat a timer?

You know that saying — “If you want to make God laugh, tell Him your plans". And we know God loves a good, deep belly laugh.

I really don’t want this to be ANOTHER “soulpreneurship is soooo hard why isn’t it going the way I planned WAHHHHHH” sob story.

We’re not going there.

Where we ARE going is Costco. Because as much as I wanted to be a full-time soulpreneur, God (obviously) had other plans…for now.

I rang in 2023 ready to tackle my second year as a full-time online business owner. My first year was ok. I survived. I even traveled around South America a bit. The second year was bound to be better — right?

But March rolled around and I was paralyzed. I wasn’t making enough money. And I had no idea how to move forward.

Because I recently arrived at the revelation that I didn’t want to “sell the transformation” ONLY. I didn’t only want to share the transformation a spiritual meditation practice could provide. I also wanted to be honest about the pain, uncertainty and constant work. And I had no idea how to do both.

Spiritually speaking, I needed to pause and reflect.

Practically speaking, I needed money — now.

I needed quick cash as I figured out how I wanted to move forward with my business and if I needed to get a job to support it.

So I signed-up for Instacart. And within a week, I was *literally* running around Costco elbowing my way to the rotisserie chicken 🐔. (Pro-tip: do NOT start your Instacart journey on a Sunday afternoon at Costco.)

The stories my ego had on full blast that week:

“How did you end up here Janelle?! I mean, you have a college degree. You are a PROFESSIONAL. Look at the life choices you’ve made that brought you here. Maybe THEY were right and YOU were wrong. Look what has come of your life. You. Have. FAILED!”

Omg. Yea. Sounds like a nagging negative evil stepmom ugh 😖.

So in true spiritual growth and development fashion, I paused and asked myself: What is this here to teach me?

Honestly, I came up blank. This particular situation wasn’t about learning a soul lesson. It was about releasing something.

I moved on to the next question: What is surfacing that I need to release?

Shame. Cuz let’s be real, I still carry so much of it around. I felt ashamed.

But in the pursuit of my highest goal — Self-Realization — I have asked Life to take me to the people and situations that will help me let go of everything I’m not so I can return to everything I am.

👆🏼 This is my life purpose.

So I sat with the shame. In between deliveries. When I ran into an ex co-worker next to the avocados. When I got a flat tire.

I sat with the energy of shame that we carry in the pit of our guts. I sent it to my heart center. And I used deep exhalations to release it. Bit by bit. Day by day. 😮‍💨

Until one day, the shame is gone. And I’m left with my true Self — grateful.

Grateful to have a job that gives me the freedom and flexibility to figure out how I want to move forward. Grateful for the kind Costco employees and Instacart Shoppers who helped me find my way. Grateful for being able to push my ego’s pride aside so I can stay true to my soul’s vision and mission.

Always grateful.

In the pursuit of living my truth, life has brought me to some fascinating places. Sometimes it’s a sacred meditation cave in the Himalayas. Sometimes it’s Costco.

It’s all God at the end of the day.

Embarking on a journey to your most authentic life isn’t a smooth and blissful ride. It means challenging societal conditioning and learning to live in the unknown. It means sitting with some uncomfortable, scary sht.

It means trusting that Life has brought you to this perfect situation as an invitation to let go of everything you’re not so you can reconnect with everything you already are ❤️.

And honestly, once some of that shame was released, I started to like Instacart. It’s kinda fun 🛒🏃🏻‍♀️. Maybe my soul just belongs in a grocery store 😆. And now I’m obsessed with visiting Costco in Hawaii. The end.
